Happy Khmer New Year!
This year’s traditional new year celebration has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with the government imposing travel restrictions and public gatherings to help curb the spread of the virus.
Our work, however, continues.
In the last two weeks, our social work team distributed support packages of much needed food and hygiene essentials and a modest stipend for rents and utilities to ensure our clients and their babies are fed, healthy, and safe in their homes. Our midwives also continue with their scheduled health checks but with increased level of precautions.
Our social work team continues to monitor mothers and their babies through phone calls. They also continue to remind them about the importance of frequent hand-washing and social distancing, and what to do if they get sick. We will continue to be in touch with our clients on a regular basis.
We would like to thank you all for your support and encouragement. Our fervent hope for the new year is that this crisis will be over and we, together with our partners and supporters, will be able to focus on helping vulnerable women rebuild their futures with their babies.
